
The color field camera blends a live video recording with flickr images that match the color of the object center of your view (inspired by the Flickr Color Pickr and RGBy. After building a foamcore prototype last week, I now moved the components (Logitech 4000 webcam and a Purdy 2.5" LCD screen) into a more durable case, a gutted Herco Imperial 620 still camera from the 1950s.
The webcam is mounted right behind the Herco's original lens using a balsa wood jig. In the back, I used a Dremel and some hand tools to cut out a window for the LCD screen:
